Construction of Jost Group’s first warehouse, which is to measure 43,000 m², has begun in Oupeye, on the Trilogiport site in Liège. Jost Group plans to build four warehouses in total, covering an area of 180,000 m² on a plot of 300,000 m². The strength of this project is, of course, the multimodal aspect, which will benefit Jost Group's customers, since the site has access to rail and the waterway. It will also enable Jost Group to continue cutting its CO² emissions, in line with its ISO 14001 certification and the Lean & Green charter. The LogProject development company is coordinating the project with the two Walloon building companies we had the pleasure of choosing: Wust from Malmédy and Eloi from Sprimont.
Liège Trilogiport is designed to host European distribution centres, with a direct connection to the container terminal located along the Albert canal. Businesses on the site have logistics warehousing facilities in the immediate vicinity of the Albert canal, which connects Liège to Antwerp in 14 hours and to Rotterdam in 24 hours. "The geographical location of Liège Trilogiport is a major asset for the platform," explains Emile-Louis Bertrand, General Manager of the Liège Port Authority. We are located in the hinterland of four major North Sea seaports (Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam and Dunkirk) and at the heart of a market of 56 million consumers!"
This very substantial investment by Jost Group enables the Liège Region to strengthen its position in advanced logistics in Europe, while also providing job opportunities. In short, this project is a good example of a constructive partnership between the Region, the municipality, the Liège Port Authority, business and civil society.
